Forster & Garbus is not accredited by BBB. Much worse, the CFBP has received 263 complaints against the firm in the period of ten years (2011-2022). The firm has been known for making harassing phone calls and threatening consumers for collecting debts in violation of federal law.

 

In the case of Eun Joo Lee v. Forster & Garbus, the District Court rendered that Forster & Garbus gravely misled the consumer and failed to inform her of who the original debtor for her debt was. This was a  violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act of 1977.

 

In 2019, The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau filed a lawsuit against Forster & Garbus. The Bureau alleged that the firm misrepresented the involvement of attorneys in the preparation and filing of its cases to consumers and violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. The firm also violated Consumer Financial Protection Act which forbids deceptive actions and practices by making false statements to customers through its lawsuits.

The firm has been sued for improper service of court summons, failure to disclose written dispute requirements, and misleading collection letters many times.
